The NCSA is pleased to partner with the City to support its new “Save the Drop” campaign and aggressive water conservation goals. An immediate priority is reducing residential water use through lawn conversion to watershed-wise landscaping.

Neighborhood Councils (NCs) are vital to the success of this effort. Please join the NCSA at our next workshop on Saturday, May 16, and help shape a lawn conversion program that Neighborhood Councils across the City can implement!

Come share your unique knowledge of your neighborhood, and help us identify:

• What are the barriers to lawn transformation in your neighborhood or community?

• What types of programs can the NCSA or the City develop for NCs to overcome these barriers? How can we most effectively foster lawn conversion across NC’s?

• What resources do NCs need to be successful?

• How should NCs and the City measure the effectiveness of the program?

This will be a highly interactive workshop. Following a presentation by LADWP on the City’s new “Save the Drop” campaign and water conservation goals, there will be time for Q&A before we discuss the lawn conversion initiative.

We’ll also set aside time for brief (2-minute) reports on up to five local sustainability policy issues of interest to attendees. If there is a specific council file or issue you’d like to report on or see addressed, please let us know: [email protected].

Public and nonprofit partners that include HoneyLove, the Hollywood/LA Beautification Team, LADWP, Pando Populus, Surfrider Foundation, TreePeople, and Water LA will be available to speak with attendees and share resources that you can take back to your Neighborhood Council.
