We are holding a special meeting of our advocacy committee in order to hear two perspectives (one in support, one in opposition) on the proposed Arroyo Seco Water Reuse Project (which would affect some of the San Pascual Park in the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council area and the water in the Arroyo Seco, which connects to the LA River).

Alexandra Lopez, program assistant with ActiveSGV, will present the case in support.
Tim Brick, executive director of Stewards of the Arroyo Seco, will represent the opposition.

We will then open up the conversation to our participants. All those who are stakeholders in LA as defined by Los Angeles Administrative Code Section 22.801.1 (basically, those who live, work, own property, or participate in a community organization with a physical address in LA) will be considered members of our advocacy committee and permitted to participate in our consensus-based decision-making process. It is possible that a recommendation to our board will not be arrived at during this meeting. If we do arrive at a recommendation, that will go to our board, and if our board decides to pass that recommendation along to our voters (composed of our representatives, board, and committee chairs), they will be asked to vote (likely via email).

Another important note—the related resolution (Jurado) in Council File 26-0777 is scheduled to be heard in City Council July 1. The City of Los Angeles's Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners will be the ultimate decision-maker on the City of Los Angeles side. Their next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 16.

Here is the Draft Environmental Impact Report. Comments are/were due July 2.
