When 17 days to go March 07, 2026 at 9:00am 1 day 8 hrs

Join us for our third annual lawn to habitat transformation. We will be transforming a water-hungry, monoculture grass lawn on a multifamily property into a biodiverse habitat zone that captures rainwater, reintroduces threatened native plants to the neighborhood, and supports pollinators and the web of life in our local ecosystem over the course of two days to make Los Angeles a #SpongeCity.

We have roles for all kinds of volunteers, from those interested in digging in the dirt and planting plants to those who prefer to chat with the public about the importance of this project. Volunteers will have an opportunity to learn about reconditioning compacted soil, creating eco-friendly weed barriers, determining soil type, mulching, planting techniques and establishment care for California native plants, water capture design options, and much more. Sign up now. Invite your friends (12 years of age and up).

Also, this is a great way to earn your community service hours!

Six separate time slots are available, three on Saturday and three on Sunday.

RSVP here.

Limited free street parking is available.

The Western stop on the Metro E line is a 12-minute walk away.
The 206 and 40 buses stop a few blocks south of the site at Normandie and Martin Luther King.

And if you want to carpool, sign up here!
