We are part of the Reusable LA coalition, which has worked closely with council members (including the current Council President Krekorian and former Councilmembers Koretz and O'Farrell) and LASAN on the Comprehensive Plastics Reduction Program, for which a very long draft program environmental impact report (PEIR) was released March 12.
By law there was a 45-day window for public comments (due April 26), which put neighborhood councils in a bit of a pickle, so we wanted to give you a heads-up for neighborhood councils who wanted to weigh in! (And we wanted you to weigh in, as we anticipated, and received, push-back from the plastics industry!)
The related council file is 21-0064.
UPDATE AUGUST 2024
Our letter is here.
Check out this timeline. The EIR has not yet been released. We are anticipating that this will go to the full city council for a vote in September, so the opportunity for neighborhood councils to weigh in will once again be very limited.
