Learn about how our city landscapes can capture stormwater, support biodiversity, and build climate resilience. Stick around after the tour to help steward this Ocean Friendly Garden, the Westwood Neighborhood Greenway, by removing invasive plants and making room for native plants to thrive.
From about 9 to 10, we'll tour the Westwood Greenway to learn more about how it was created, how it helps prevent water pollution, and what native plants have been restored at the site. We will also demonstrate native-plant seed collecting!
From about 10 to noon, we'll clear out invasive non-native plants to help the greenway thrive. We'll be divided into teams with tasks for all levels of physical ability, and no prior experience is needed. (This also helps the Sustainability Alliance, as the Westwood Greenway is our fiscal sponsor. They charge us a very low fee in exchange for this support!)
Feel free to drop in whenever you like, and you do not have to stay the whole time.
Please help us spread the word! Here is our post on Instagram.
(The Westwood Neighborhood Greenway is in the Westside Neighborhood Council area.)
